Good things come to those who wait….

We were very pleased to (finally) collect the keys to our new studio space late last Friday evening, and we started working on the changes to the space as soon as possible!

The space we have found is beautiful, compact, cosy, and (will be a) very cool, chic space. There is a feeling of stillness and calm, which we know you are going to enjoy.

Just as we are continuing to work on the studio space, so we are still working on this website, we are incredibly proud of the website, not just a studio website, but a fully enabled class booking system hand built and designed to make every part of your journey to and with Humble Warrior Yoga exquisite.

Iain will be adding more updates to this page, and to Humble Warrior Yoga’s social media accounts as the opening day (06/07/2019) draws closer.

Remember to book your mat space now, we have decided that only those who have booked in advance will be able to practice with us, we wont have the facility to accept payments for classes in person, and being a small studio with a low number of mat spaces, we want to make sure that every mat is reserved and used!

Stay tuned Humble Warrior. Good things come to those who wait.

Yoga sounds cool, but…..

autumn forest

As a Yoga teacher, I hear all the time, I’m not flexible, I’m not strong, I’m too old, my mind is too busy.

I spend hours in classes and planning classes trying to reach and teach the next more challenging pose, the next instagram worthy hand balance. I felt like to be a good yogi and an inspriring teacher that I had to be strong and bendy and push my classes hard, make you sweat! In truth, all Ineeded was to be patient, resillient, and curious.

So when I dreamt of creating Humble Warrior Yoga, I wanted to create a safe space for your curiosity to come alive, for your patience to settle, for your abilities to flourish slowly, softly, naturally. I want you to figure out along the way what yoga is to you and why you need it. I want you to be given the space and time to have a moment of awakening each time you step onto your mat.

At Humble Warrior Yoga, you are invited to release your pre-conceptions, excuses and expectations. Asked to commit to a practice and accept that at times it will push you beyond your limits, accept that sometimes you will question your body, your breath, your abilities ask whether or not Yoga is for you.

Then we will bring you back to stillness. We will sit and settle back into our breath. Through varied, frequent practice, we will all build the resillience to learn to enjoy those moments of enquiry and doubt.

We will get up, come back, and take the next step towards our yoga.

Will we get bendy? Yes.

Will we get strong? Yes.

Will our bodies change? Yes.

Will we better handle and understand our emotions? Yes.

Are these reasons to practice yoga? Maybe. At first.

Are these the ultimate goals of our practice? Probably not after a few weeks of sticking with it, falling down and getting back on the mat.

Allow the body and mind to be manipulated by yoga, as much as the body and mind feel like they need to manipulate yoga to fit our ideas of what it should be.

I was so excited to announce recently that the wonderful Terrie Foster of Asher Yoga will be joining the Humble Warrior Yoga team SOON.

Terrie and I have been hosting events together for some time now, and Terrie has been hosting her own yoga retreats and workshops for much longer, she is a constant inspiration and a guiding hand, but more than that she is one of my closest friends.

To celebrate our friendship, our love for Yoga, and our collaboration in Humble Warrior Yoga we wanted to do something special.

We have found a breathtaking, quirky venue in the heart of Lichfield, and will be hosting a workshop guiding you through…

“The stories behind the shapes”.

Allow us to guide you through energizing Yoga flows which follow the stories of the postures as told in the Yogic ancient scriptures.

You will be treated to rare coffees, teas from the Lichfield tea company and home baked vegan treats.

Open Day 6th July

As a special thank you to all of you wonderful Yogis for following this journey, and being patient, I am excited to announce that on our open day (06/07/2019) we will be offering a selection of taster classes for free!

As we offer a bespoke approach to yoga, in an intimate setting, for the open day, as with all our classes, you will still need to book a space for the class that you would like to attend via our website. Our website contains more details of these classes, along with our full schedule going forward.

We can’t wait to see all of your lovely faces in this welcoming, warming, settling space, and if you are new to Yoga and not sure about trying it, the open day will be the perfect time to come along to the studio, have a coffee and a chinwag, chat and a cuppa with us and try an express version of our classes!
